Create a Biel.ai account
Sign up at app.biel.ai. 14-day free trial, no credit card. Create a project for the docs you want indexed. - 02
Generate an Atlassian API token
Create an API token for the Atlassian account that can read the space. Follow the linked setup guide and review the account permissions before connecting it. - 03
Connect your space
In the Biel dashboard, go to Sources → Confluence, paste the space URL, your Atlassian email, and the token. Monitor the first indexing run in the dashboard. - 04
Test answers and reader access
Test questions against the indexed pages, then choose an approved channel. Review reader access separately from the credentials Biel uses to index the space; channel availability depends on your plan.
Before you install
Does it work with Confluence Cloud and Server?
Confluence Cloud is supported. Confluence Server / Data Center is not, since the connection uses the Cloud REST API.
Can it read private spaces?
Biel can index pages the connected Atlassian account can read. That connection does not copy Confluence permissions to every reader of the assistant. Select the source content and review reader access before exposing internal answers.
Can we connect several Confluence spaces?
Add each space as a source in one project if it serves the same readers. Use separate projects where access differs. The source connection does not inherit each employee’s Confluence permissions.
Will it index attachments?
Page bodies are indexed. PDFs and other binary attachments are not indexed today. For those, use the Files data source and upload them separately.
How long does the install take?
Connect the space URL and Atlassian credentials, then monitor indexing. Timing depends on the number of pages and account permissions.
